Coast & nature
Compare Nerja’s town beaches with the quieter coves and dramatic headlands east of Maro, then add a cave or mountain walk.
Find your landscape →Start beside the Mediterranean, wander whitewashed streets, then follow the landscape into caves, cliffs and mountain villages. This independent guide brings our favourite possibilities together without trying to schedule every minute.

Use these pages as a starting point rather than a checklist. Each one has original recommendations and direct links to official attractions or independent local providers, so you can compare details and book with them yourself.
Compare Nerja’s town beaches with the quieter coves and dramatic headlands east of Maro, then add a cave or mountain walk.
Find your landscape →Paddle beneath the cliffs, dive clear water, ride inland roads, practise yoga, play golf or visit one of Andalucía’s best-known caves.
Browse activities →Keep it close with Frigiliana and the Axarquía, or make a full day of Málaga, Granada, the Caminito del Rey or Sierra Nevada.
Plan a day out →An easy first day
If you have just arrived, keep the car parked. Burriana Beach House is well placed for a day that moves naturally from the shore to the historic centre and back again.
Coffee by the water, a swim if conditions are kind, and time to settle into the pace of the coast.
Choose a chiringuito and try grilled fish, seafood or a long, unhurried lunch.
Browse the lanes around the old centre and pause at the Balcón de Europa.
Tapas in town or a quiet drink back at Burriana—both work beautifully.
Useful while you are here
A concise guest reference. Opening times, services and conditions can change, so live links are included where they are most useful.
Nerja is enjoyable on foot, though the climb between Burriana and town is steep in places. Taxis are useful for luggage and late evenings; buses connect Nerja with Málaga, Granada and nearby towns.
Small shops near Burriana are convenient for arrival-day basics. For a larger shop, Nerja also has several full-size supermarkets. Always check current hours, especially on Sundays and public holidays.
Burriana is ideal for an easy beach lunch; the old centre offers everything from traditional tapas bars to contemporary tasting menus. Chiringuito Ayo, El Pulguilla and Sollun are useful starting points, not a definitive ranking.
Ask the provider about weather, minimum ages, swimming ability, accessibility, insurance and cancellation terms. Book and pay directly with the operator or attraction.
Do not plan the river walk. Nerja Town Hall’s closure notice remains the authoritative guidance; choose a signed route in the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama instead. Read the official notice.
